Welcome, I’m Brett Mensing! First off, I would like to thank you for visiting this page! By now, I’m sure you already know that I am Brett, but you are probably wondering a little bit more about who I really am. I am currently 20-years-old, and attending St. Cloud State University. Three years ago, I decided to turn the page in a chapter book I like to call life, and leave my hometown of Silver Bay Minnesota. I study Mass Communications with emphasis in Broadcast Journalism at SCSU, and enjoy every single day that I am on this campus!
Growing up in a small town, I always had a passion for chatting with people from other communities, and getting to know everyone that lived in mine. Being raised in a small town can be difficult at times, but looking back on my childhood, I wouldn’t want it any other way. In the society that we live in today, I feel as if so many little things in life are becoming commercialized, and values are beginning to slip down the wayside.
Back in the Bay, my family members are all very close to each other. I grew up with my Mom and Step-day just outside of Silver Bay, near a little lake known as Lax Lake. My brother and sister-in-Law live nearby as well, and my extended family isn’t far away either. My nephew, Eastyn, is already three years old! He is the light of my life, and I can’t imagine what my world would be like today without being an Uncle to that little dude. Being so far away from my family can be tough at times, but I have learned over the years that good friends can be just enough to satisfy my emotions during tough times. If you choose to visit the Blog portion of my website, you will become more familiar with my friends, family, and other special people and things in my life.
After graduation in December of 2016, I hope to find a good job with the passion that I have managed to turn into a profession. Over the past year, I have been fortunate to work with some of the most amazing journalists that I grew up watching, at WDIO-TV in Duluth Minnesota. While studying at St. Cloud State, I have worked with UTVS News, which has provided me with wonderful real-life opportunities that I am extremely thankful for. Back in 2013, I can remember logging on to the UTVS website, and exploring the organization’s page as much as I possibly could. The thought of becoming a part of the team one day was just a dream at the time. With a small push, I was able to turn my dream into a reality. Three years later, I have worked with talented colleagues who have taught me so much about the career. I have gained experience in positions such as Managing Editor, Web Director, Producer, Reporter, and Anchor.
With that said, I think that’s enough about me for now! I invite you to click around, and visit the photos that I have posted below to learn more about who I really am, and what I enjoy doing in my busy, hectic life!
